- To get all-LED headlamps and possibly some additional features.
- Kicks currently sees low demand in our market.
- India launch uncertain at the moment.
Nissan is currently testing the facelifted version of the Kicks SUV and the latest sighting comes from Indonesia. The model that is currently on sale in the Indian market has been tailored to suit the road conditions here and unlike the global-spec model, it is significantly bigger in size as well. Spotted in heavy camouflage, the India launch of the 2020 Nissan Kicks facelift is quite uncertain at the moment as the brand is not doing well in the market here. Moreover, talking about the details of the new model including engine specs and features, it would be too early to comment on the same.
Now speaking of the test mule that you see in the pictures, all thanks to the heavy camouflage, the visual changes compared to the existing model look minimum. However, one can see the all-LED headlamp set up with LED DRLs and these should offer better illumination than the regular halogen units. The entire roof is also covered in camouflage, however, the segment in which the Kicks falls in, you can’t expect it to come with a panoramic sunroof in its new avatar.
Some reports on the web suggest that the upcoming 2020 Kicks facelift will succeed the decade-old Juke crossover that is currently on sale in the ASEAN automotive market. The facelifted Kicks will be an entirely new product for the Indonesian and Thailand markets and it will be interesting to see if the crossover makes its way to the Indian shores. However, given the fact the low demand for Kicks in the Indian market, we doubt its arrival here.
With the tough competition and better products hitting the market at regular intervals, Nissan India really needs to step up the game when it comes to its product strategies. Nissan India is currently facing a lot of heat from the competition and even Datsun that makes affordable cars is going through a dull phase. On the other hand, Renault that shares its internals with multiple Nissan and Datsun products is doing comparatively good in the Indian market.
