The 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird has been spotted as a test mule in Tamil Nadu ahead of the launch in the Indian market. Boasting of a substantial cosmetic and mechanical updates, the motorcycle has already been spied testing a few times earlier as well. The 2020 Thunderbird models will carry the same set of 346cc and 499cc engines, albeit with BS-VI certification. The recent spied images detail the cosmetic updates that the cruiser will get when it launches in the first quarter of 2020.
Going by the spy images, the 2020 RE Thunderbird's rear fender will be shorter in dimensions while the number plate holder will also be repositioned. The tail-lamp cluster will be a new unit in a circular shape and with a chrome bezel that lends it a retro touch. The older seat of the motorcycle has gone for a toss in favor of a new split seat setup. In addition, the one-piece grab rail bar will be replaced by a split grab rail bar which will be borrowed from the Thunderbird X. The 2020 Thunderbird spied model was spotted with a pair of new alloy wheels which will fill in the shoes of the current model's spoke wheels. The tyres are also expected to be tubeless so that touring competency can be further improved.

2020 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 BS-VI Compliant Spotted Testing
The updates just don't seem to end as the company has equipped the 2020 Thunderbird model with a flatter handlebar a single pod LCD instrument console, which will take place of the older twin-pod unit. Mechanically, the motorcycle will continue to be powered by the same 346cc and 499cc engines. These engines will be updated to BS-VI emission norms to meet the deadline of April 1, 2020. The 346cc engine will get the fuel injection technology for compliance with the BS-VI norms.
