Speed and thrill has yet again taken lives in our country. In an unfortunate incident, a speeding BMW M3 car driver rammed the high-performance German car onto a Honda Activa two wheeler, killing two elderly riders. The incident took place during the daytime on 16th May in Virar, a part of the Suburban Mumbai.
The driver is said to be a 23-year old son of a businessman, who surrendered himself to the police before fleeing from the scene. The boy who was pursuing higher education in Canada got bail afterwards. On the other hand, the 65-year old rider died on the spot, while 45-year old pillion succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
The images from the accident scene reveal that the impact was such, it actually broke the Activa in two pieces and both of these pieces laying 10-feet apart. Adding to the horrific incident was the fact that the M3 was set on fire, completely damaging it in the process. Who did it and why did it - there are lots of theories attached.
While some say that the driver was driving the car on the wrong side, some say that he was under the influence of alcohol. Some are also suggesting that the two wheeler tried to cross the road without indication. Apart from the accident, many theories are lingering over the fire that damaged the car. Possibility of driver setting ablaze the car to damage the evidence is highly unlikely. Chances are that the locals torched the car in anger.
