After the flash floods hit several low lying areas creating havoc in the state of Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month, few of the two wheeler manufacturers have come forward to help the government rescue operations by providing aide. The companies who came forward to the rescue of people in the J&K include the likes of Bajaj, TVS and Polaris India (Off roading vehicle manufacturer).

Polaris India was the earliest among the lot to offer the support. They have offered four All Terrain Vehicles(ATV's) to the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) to aide in relief efforts. Polaris has also planned to dispatch an ambulance for the supply of medicines and other medical assistance equipments. Modified on Ranger 6*6 and supported by Bafna Helathcare, it is aimed to reach terrains where going otherwise is difficult. This will help provide assistance to certain far off areas where services are not reaching on time.

Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd. said "J&K floods have ruined lives and livelihood. Polaris is saddened by the magnitude of tragedy. As entire roads in and around the states are damaged and non-existent now, Polaris India extends a hand of support to help accelerate the relief operations. The specialized Off-Road Vehicles will help make debris laden areas accessible."

Another manufacturer who came forward for help is Bajaj Auto. Bajaj is donating Rs 20 crores in the prime Minister Relief Fund and is undertaking various relief related operations, expecting to contribute further upto Rs 150 crores. Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto said that the Prime Minister has appealed for the donation in PMNRF and we will do so, too. We feel the grief of fellow citizens in the state and will provide help at this critical time to deal with the tragedy, and to rebuild their lives.

Apart from Bajaj and Polaris, TVS Motors have also extended the helping hand and has sent 6.5 tonne medicines worth Rs. One Crore, and a team of 40 Doctors including local doctors who can speak the language and knows the area very well for J&K flood victims. TVS Motor has tied up with Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute for this rescue operation.

Ashok K Joshi, Chairman Srinivasan Services Trust, the CSR arm of TVS Motor Company says that "the company has always been in the forefront of providing assistance to affected communities in times of national calamities. TVS continues to stand by its commitment to social responsibilities."

We wish that the grief of people in the state ends soon and we support our manufacturers completely in their endeavors.
