Mercedes Benz has shown a growth in the sales figures of its luxury models in the second quarter of the year ‘2013’. The growth is noticed in its ‘face lifted’ model ‘E class’ as well as in ‘A class hatch’ model. In the year 2012 the company has introduced ‘GL Class’ model to the Indian car market. After that the growth in the sales figure is very good. The car manufacturer has sold nearly 1,749 units as compared to last year’s sales figure, which was 1,327 . The growth reported is 32.35 %. This is a substantial increase and so far the best sales figure recorded by the ‘Mercedes Benz in its entire presence in the Indian car market. This also hightlights the importance of a middle class buyer who is moving upward and is not afraid to splash his spare cash on buying luxury vehicles. Many luxury brands like Renault, Jaguar and Audi have noticed the growth in the middle class sector and are trying new strategies and marketing plans to make a place in this new sector. They are recently joined by Volvo which is aggressively trying to find its place in the Indian car market.
A senior executive from Mercedes Benz commented on the performance of its models in the Indian car market said that the company has used the strategy of introducing a number of vehicles which are face lifted in the market and has received very encouraging ‘response’ from the buyers. Their new model ‘B class CDI’ is next in line for introduction in July 2013 followed by a long line of launches. He also said though the competition is tough and the conditions in the market is not very good, but it is heartening to note that Mercedes Benz has done so well in the second quarter and he hoped they would continue to succeed in the near future as well.
