Fiat 500 is a cute looking hatchback purchased mainly because of its looks and handy size. But what if you want a Fiat 500 that is also performance oriented? Well, Fiat has the answer in the form of the Abarth 500. The performance division owned by FCA is known to manufacture some high-performance cars and now a company named Pogea Racing has taken the game further ahead.
Under the hood, the Abarth gets a chunky 1.4-litre four cylinder mill that is capable of producing an incredible 331hp of power at 5,750 rpm and 411 Nm of torque at 3,450 rpm. Pogea has reduced some 71 kgs of the weight and that helps the Abarth 500 to touch 0-100 kmph in a mere 5.1 seconds, before topping out at 262 kmph.
The weight is reduced by extensive use of carbon fibre and removed rear seats. To enhance performance, Pogea has installed KW sport shock absorbers with six-piston aluminum calipers and 313mm perforated discs at the front while there are Esseesse-derived perforated discs at the rear. Also, it gets 17-inch OZ Racing alloys with 205/40/17 Toyo Proxes T1-R tires.
On the outside, one can easily spot the changes Abarth 500 has gone through and they are fairly evident. The Abarth 500 gets a front spoiler and splitter, vented hood, rear diffuser and a redesigned rear bumper. A larger intercooler ensures all that extra power along with an additional fuel pump, custom injectors & forged pistons. The Abarth 500 also gets an upgraded turbocharger and bigger intake & exhaust ducts.
And how much all these upgrades will set you back with? Well, at a small add-on cost of $13,500 for the kit, while the complete vehicle will cost you some 50 grands!
