4th Generation Honda City crosses 2 lakh sales

Snapshot: Honda has cumulatively sold over 6.3 lakh units of Honda City in India.

Honda’s best selling mid-sized sedan, the Honda City has crossed a milestone of 2 lakh sales in a record time of 32 months in India and is the fastest selling mid-size sedan in the country. With this strong sales momentum since its launch in the January 2014, it has marked a total sales of 200,098 units by the end of the August this year.

Not only this, the company has cumulatively sold over 6.3 lakh units of Honda City and the car has ranked No.1 in the JD Power Initial Quality Study for the 14th time since it got introduced in the country.

The diesel version gets a 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine (the same engine that powers Amaze) that produces a maximum power output of 98bhp along with 200Nm of torque. This powertrain comes connected to a 6-speed manual transmission and returns an impressive fuel efficiency of 26kmpl. The petrol variant draws its power from a 1.5-litre i-VTEC unit that comes paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT (that is 10 percent lighter than the conventional CVTs). The power unit is good to deliver a output of 117bhp and 146Nm of peak torque with a class leading mileage of 17.8 kmpl when coupled with an MT and 17.9 kmpl with automatic transmission.

In terms of features, the 4th Generation Honda  City comes loaded with SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and Advanced Compatibility Engineering body shell.
