Skoda, the Czech Republican-based automaker, has rolled out the 500,000th Rapid sedan from its main factory at Mladá Boleslav. The milestone car was a red colored Rapid Spaceback. Just so you know, Rapid is Skoda's second best selling model in its entire range of vehicles. In addition to the production at the main factory in Mladá Boleslav, the Rapid is also produced at the sites in Yizheng (China), Kaluga (Russia) and Pune (India).
“As ŠKODA’s second best-selling series, the Rapid is an important pillar of our international growth strategy. By releasing these current upgrades in technology and engines, we have now made the series even more attractive,” says Werner Eichhorn, Skoda Board Member for Sales and Marketing. For those asking, a few weeks back, the Skoda Rapid received several upgrades in form of increased connectivity, enhanced safety and assistance systems, and new, environmentally friendly EU-6 engines. Out of the 500,000 units of Rapid manufactured worldwide, around 57,900 units have been produced at Skoda India's facility in Pune, India.
The company currently sells four models in India - Rapid, Octavia, Yeti and flagship Superb saloon. Though, for the time being, the company hasn't lined up any big launch but it would launch the new-generation Superb saloon in India in the first half of 2016. The Skoda Superb had its world premiere in February, earlier this year in Czech Republic. Here's sharing with you all the production figures of Rapid sedan by site (rounded):
