Mercedes Benz has already occupied a prominent place in the car market in India. It now holds the 3rd place in the segment of luxury car makers. The German car manufacturers now plan to introduce 3 new car models in the starting from May. The new ‘GL Class’ Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) is likely to be unveiled in Delhi on 16th May. The next 2 vehicles which are online for the launch are rumored to be ‘B Class Diesel’ and another ‘A Class’ vehicle. Though the date is not fixed they may be launched in ‘June’ this year.
A top executive from the company announced that the German luxury car manufacturer is going to introduce other models to capture bigger customer sector in this growing market for luxury cars. He said presently Mercedes Benz has only a limited number of models in the ‘C, E and S’ segments and a petrol model in ‘B Class’ sector. He said the sales growth over the years is good, the number of units sold last year (‘2-12’) were nearly seven thousand and they also hope this modest figure would improve in this year.
Mercedes Benz’s ‘GL – class’ is a like the earlier model of Sports Utility Vehicle, but with added luxurious interiors and improved performance as a ‘m-class’ unit. However, the new model ‘GL350 CDI’ may have better, faster and more powerful engine with efficient usage of fuel. The market buzz says that the new additions to the line of the product will be introduced in A – class segment and in both petrol and diesel varieties and may be placed under the present B class vehicle now sold in India for Rupees Twenty Five Lakhs onwards. The car market in India is anxiously waiting for the day when the car manufacturer introduces these new products in the Indian car market.
