Jaguar I-PACE has won three titles at The International Engine + Powertrain of the Year Awards 2019 in Stuttgart. The all-electric SUV won the award of best electric powertrain, best new engine and the 347-446bhp engine category. A panel of 70 expert motoring journalists from 31 countries took into account key characteristics including performance, driveability, energy efficiency and refinement. Just so you know, Jaguar I-PACE will be launched in the Indian market by the second half of 2020.
Ian Hoban, Powertrain Director, Jaguar Land Rover, said that they have used all the benefits of state-of-the-art battery and motor technology to create a world-class electric vehicle. As well as zero emissions, the all-electric powertrain delivers an ideal balance of performance, refinement and range, together with outstanding responsiveness, agility and day-to-day usability. I-PACE is a true driver’s car, and above all a true Jaguar. The I-PACE carries a 90 kW lithium-ion battery which comes with a driving range of up to 470 kms. It can be charged by upto 80 percent from zero in just 40 minutes by using a 100 kW DC charger. Ideally, it takes more than 10 hours to fully charge the SUV at home from a 7 kW AC wallbox.
The I-PACE has a couple of light, compact and efficient electric motors which generate a combined power output of 394bhp and 696Nm while having an all-wheel drive traction. The SUV touches the 100kmph mark from standstill in merely 4.5 seconds. The battery is placed centrally between the two axles, and as low down as possible. This location enables perfect 50:50 weight distribution and a low centre of gravity together with the advanced double wishbone front and Integral Link rear suspension. The electric motors weigh just 78 kg while they’re also exceptionally compact which facilitates an impressive boot space of 656 litres. The I-PACE has received 66 global awards till date, including a hattrick at the 2019 Word Car Awards.
