MG Motor will launch its second product, the EZS SUV, in and around October 2019 in the Indian market. First things first, the EZS is an all-electric variant of the MG ZS SUV, which is similar in size as Hyundai Creta and would directly take on the Hyundai Kona electric which is expected to launch a few months earlier. The company has already made it clear that its product would be the Hector SUV, which will be launched in May 2019. MG EZS has been spotted frequently on the Indian roads as test mule with heavy camouflage.
New MG ZS made its debut at the 2018 Guangzhou Auto Show in China in November last year. The India-spec model will be retailed as CBU from Shanghai with 250 units planned initially for the import. The company could start the local production of the SUV at a later stage as reportedly it intends to have high localization of nearly 75 percent in order to price it aggressively against the rivals. The exterior and interior of the India-bound model will be identical to the global model. MG EZS will be powered by a 45.6 kWh battery pack which will deliver a top power of 148bhp and peak torque of 350Nm. The all-electric SUV would do a 0-50kmph sprint in merely 3.1 seconds while having a driving range of 335 kilometers on a full charge.
The zero-emission SuV will take 6 hours for a full charge using AC charger while in case of DC charger, it will take just 30 minutes for upto 80 percent charge. MG EZS could be priced around Rs 20 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) and the buyers would also get the FAME benefits from the Government of India.
