The American automajor has now finally revealed the all new 2015 Figo in Brazil in front of the local media. Known as Ka in the Brazilian market, the vehicle has been revealed as a concept for now, so the production ready version will still take some time to come out. Similar vehicle will also hit the Indian shores by 2015 to replace the existing model.
While the platform on which the new 2015 Figo will be built is same of Mk5 Fiesta, the car will have an entirely new look. The front fascia now receives the new family design with Aston Martin lookalike grille, while other design updates seem to have taken inspiration from other Ford models. The headlamps remind us of the EcoSport, while the bonnet is similar to that found on models like Mondeo, Fiesta and Focus. The new Figo/Ka also receives new wing mirrors and redesigned bumper.
Mechanically, the next generation Figo will have no changes, except the introduction of the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine in the line-up. Same engine also does duty to the Ford EcoSport. Other two engines options- 1.2-litre 16V Duratec Petrol and 1.4-litre Duratorq Diesel will continue to be there in the line-up. However, the company hasn't yet officially commented on this.
Codenamed as B562, the new Figo/Ka will be developed and engineered at Ford's R&D center in Brazil. The next generation Figo could be the first product to be rolled out of Ford India's Sanand, Gujarat based facility, which is still under development. Ford could also launch the new Ford Figo with an automatic transmission gearbox.
Now when the concept has already been revealed in Brazil, we can expect this to be showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo as well scheduled to happen in February. Stay tuned to Autoportal for further updates on the same.
