American manufacturer has revealed a new special edition of the Ford GT, named as 'GT’66 Heritage edition'. This limited edition sports car will be introduced to commemorate Ford's historic victories, honoring the GT40 Mark II that was driven to victory by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at Le Mans in 1966. the heritage themed car will wear a unique interior and exterior in color, along with a unique wheel finish. The appearance of the car are distinctly based on the GT40 Mark II race car, while new styling cues have been accentuated for modern interpretation.
During the unveiling of the All-new Ford GT '66 Heritage Edition, Mr Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, product development, and chief technical officer said, "Celebrating the anniversary of Ford's historic victories at Le Mans has always been a part of the return of the Ford GT. The 2017 Ford GT '66 Heritage Edition is a stunning tribute to the car that kicked off Ford's string of Le Mans victories in 1966."
Reminding the Ford GT40's unforgettable 1-2-3 finish, the new Ford GT wears a shadow black, either in a glossy or matte finish with silver stripes and frozen White exclusive race-number 2 graphics on the hood as well as doors. It is rounded off with a set of 20-inch one-piece forged aluminum wheel coated in gold satin and with black lug nuts. Inside, the new GT wraps carbon-fiber seats along with instrument panel, pillars and headliner are in Ebony leather, with pillowed inserts and plow-through stitching, while the seats' head restraints and the steering wheel boasts of the Ford GT logo. Just like the 1966 race car, the steering wheel is wrapped in leather with seat belts featuring a unique blue webbing.
