BMW India has launched the Seventh-gen 3-Series sedan at an introductory price of Rs 41.40 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. Being codenamed as G20, it will be available in both petrol and diesel fuel trims in three variants. BMW 3 Series rivals the likes of Mercedes-Benz C Class, Audi A4 and Jaguar XE in the Indian market. The German luxury automaker had also launched the X7 SUV and 2019 7 Series recently in the country.

Underpinning the Cluster Architecture (CLAR) platform, identical to 5-Series and 7-Series, the seventh-generation 3 Series has grown up in size while it has become considerably lighter (nearly 55 kgs) than the preceding model. The new model gets the traditional BMW kidney grille, albeit larger in size and L-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) as standard. The rear end boasts of rectangular L-shaped tail-lamps, which is a radical departure from the predecessor. The cabin upholstery is similar to the X5 and X7 SUVs with almost equal space as the outgoing model. The seats can be split in 40:20:40 format to create more space.
The 8.8-inch infotainment unit is available as standard while the more advanced and upmarket 10.25-inch iDrive touchscreen infotainment system is also on offer as an option. Other exquisite features include electric sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, front parking sensors, reverse parking camera, digital instrument cluster and ambient lighting. Mechanically, the BMW 3 Series 2019 is powered by a set of 2.0L engines in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The petrol variant makes top power of 258bhp and peak torque of 400Nm, while the diesel variants come with 190bhp as maximum power output and 400Nm as highest torque performance, linked to an 8-speed auto transmission as standard.
