Honda Cars India has now officially said to bring in the next-generation Honda City and Honda Jazz to India by 2014, claims a report published in Business Standard. And we believe both the vehicles to be unveiled at the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo. What is more interesting to know, is the fact that this time both of these vehicles will also have diesel engines. Other than the all new Honda City and Jazz, the company is also planning to bring in a brio based MPV called 'Mobilio' and also an affordable Compact SUV.
Speaking to Business Standard, Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president, sales & marketing said, "We are planning to create a new segment, we call it crossover utility vehicle Also our most preferred car City will be launched in diesel variant it would hit Indian roads in 2014." He also said that the vehicle will be first launched in Japan next month, while the car should be here by 2014.
Replying to a question that why Honda didn't launch the diesel version of its most popular car 'City', he said, "though we have the technology but we could not fit the Amaze diesel engine in the City. So we have to launch new City. The Jazz will also be launched in new look."
The report also claims that the Japanese auto major may also reinvent hybrid version of the Civic. However, the company is waiting for the Government to come forward and extend some support for Hybrid vehicles in the country. And like we reported in our earlier story done on 4th October, Honda cars India is also working on a new small car to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon.
So, all these future launches show the kind of product strategy that Honda has for India. And with a huge success of Amaze, the company is expecting to receive the similar kind of response for all the upcoming cars.
