Hyundai Motor India has finally unveiled the most awaited hatchback in India, the all-new Santro. The new hatchback will make its world premiere on October 23, 2018 in New Delhi. The 2018 Hyundai Santro will make its comeback with Hyundai’s latest design touches. The all-new hatchback will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Tata Tiago and the upcoming Datsun Go facelift.
Speaking at the unveiling of the all-new Hyundai Santro, Mr Y K Koo, MD & CEO, HMIL said, “Today is a historic and proud moment for us, as India has unanimously chosen the name of their Favourite Family Car to be called The All New SANTRO. Since its first launch, SANTRO created history with its numerous segment-first innovations and became the Complete Family Car for millions of Indians. The All New SANTRO is based on the six key pillars – Modern Stylish Tallboy design, Comfortable and Premium Cabin, New Age technology, Customer Centric Safety, All Round Performance and Complete Peace of Mind, to become a Game Changer and Benchmark Product in the Indian Auto Industry. The All New SANTRO will also debut Advanced In-House developed Smart Auto AMT and offer factory fitted CNG option.”
The front of the model dons swept back headlamps, where you find this model bit edgy in design and goes all the way towards the fenders, and Hyundai’s cascading grille that gives it good and bolder appearance with its comeback, chrome surrounds and the plastic around the grille is further extending to place fog lamps in it. Its not the exterior, Hyundai has reserved many goodies for its buyers on the inside as well like a segment-first 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and voice recognition and MirrorLink along with a reverse camera that will be offered on the higher trims. The new Hyundai Santro will also get steering mounted controls for the audio system, rear aircons – which is also segment first, rear wiper and washer. The new car will also come with features like the power mirrors with integrated turn indicators, on the top versions.
Under the bonnet, the new Santro hatchback will come with a 1.1-litre 4-Cylinder petrol engine that makes 67bhp with 99Nm of peak torque. The engine will come paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox and for the first time, it will also be offered with an option of an AMT. Nonetheless, the new model will also a CNG variant powered by the same petrol unit that will produce 58bhp of power with 84Nm of torque. Hyundai claims a that the new Santro will return a fuel efficiency of 20.3 kmpl (petrol) and 30.5km/kg (CNG).
