The stage is set for the unveiling of the latest Jaguar in London tonight. The all-new XE will be the most affordable Jaguar on sale. The car will officially be launched at the Paris Motor Show in a few weeks from now and go on sale in early 2015 across the globe.
The all new ‘iQ Al’ aluminium structure will also be used on the latest Jaguar and it promises to be the most fuel efficient Jaguar ever with the company claiming a figure of 25kmpl for the all-new 2-litre turbodiesel from the new Ingenium family. The XE uses over 75 per cent aluminium content. The company has used all-new high strength modular architecture developed around Jaguar’s fifth-generation aluminium technology. It also claims to have invented a new aluminium alloy called RC5754 which uses highly recycled. This new alloy features a high level of recycled material and makes a significant contribution to Jaguar’s goal of using 75 per cent recycled material by 2020.
The Jaguar XE will also be available with the F-Type’s 3-litre V6 petrol engine with 335bhp when it goes on sale next year.
The car’s cabin will feature an eight-inch touchscreen with voice controls, the Jaguar XE infotainment system also allows iOS and Android smartphone users to access apps via the in-car display.
You will also get a range of driver assist systems, including a laser head-up display such as speed and navigation details, onto the screen to help improved driver concentration.
The car will arrive in India early next year and prices are expected to start around Rs 30 lakh for the base versions of the car.
