The all-new Toyota Fortuner has notched up over 20,000 bookings in the Indian market since its launch in November 2016. The new SUV has general waiting period of nearly 3 months, while more than 12,200 units have been sold till date. The Japanese automaker has received more than 20,180 orders for the Fortuner SUV, which comes in a price range of Rs. 26.66-31.86 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). The company also shed light on the sales of Land Cruiser Prado and Land Cruiser 200 by stating that it has sold 1170 and 665 units of the SUV in the country, respectively.

"We are capitalising all our efficiencies towards reducing the waiting period. The new Fortuner along with the Innova Crysta is produced in Plant 1 in Bidadi, Karnataka. Plant 1 has a production capacity of 100,000 units in a year and is currently running at 90-95 per cent capacity," N. Raja, Director and Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) told IANS. "The new Fortuner currently has a waiting period of three months and our focus right now is to reduce the waiting period so that we can deliver the vehicle to our customers," Raja said. For those asking, the Innova Crysta MPV, which celebrated its first anniversary in India a few days back, has a general waiting period of 3 weeks with over 85,000 units sold.

"The two models (Fortuner and Innova) are ruling the Indian roads in their respective segments. They are certainly owner's pride and competitors envy," a senior official of a rival company told IANS preferring anonymity. "Toyota's aim in India is not just to sell volumes and chase numbers. We believe that Toyota should not just be a company to make new models, we believe in sustainable growth," added Raja when quipped about the decision of Toyota to not launch any new models in 2017. Raja said that the company is studying the market, when asked about LC Prado and LC 200. "We have sold 1,170 units of the LC Prado and 665 units of the LC 200 in India through the CBU (completely built unit) route," he added.
