The third-generation Volvo S60 has confirmed its India Debut in 2020. While the launch was expected in this year, now we can expect the all-new Volvo S60 arrival in India by 2020. However, the best news is that the sedan might get assembled in India from the very first day.
According to Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, they are presently assessing the assembling of new Volvo S60 in Bangalore, since its launch. XC60, S90 sedan and XC60 are some of the Volvo models that get assembled in India. These locally assembled cars account for around 60% of the overall sales. Frump also said that the local assemble of new Volvo S60 is under consideration for local assembly. They haven’t finalised this but chances are that they would probably do this.
The 2020 Volvo S60 will be built on the modular SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform and will be available in a single petrol variant - 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. There will be no diesel variants available for the Volvo S60 worldwide. The turbo-petrol T4 produces a peak power of 190 hp, and the plug-in hybrid T8 Twin engine generates an output of 390 hp.

The T8 hybrid model combines a supercharged 303 hp petrol engine with the 65 kW electric engine. All models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission system. The top speed of the new S60 will be around 180 kmph. The best part is Volvo will assemble the plug-in hybrid, XC90 in the late 2019 and might provide this powertrain over the Volvo S60 as well.
Whether this sedan is assembled locally or overseas, the new Volvo S60 price will be competitive. The new Volvo S60 price in India will range from INR 40 lakh to INR 50 lakh.
