Volvo Auto India announced the start of pre-bookings of its soon-to-be-launched luxury saloon, Volvo S90 in the country. Beginning a new chapter in Volvo’s history, the new S90 captures company’s future design direction, incorporating its own range of new technologies and utilizing its new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) technology. It will be Euro 6 or BS VI compliant and will have the lowest CO2 emissions in the category. The luxury sedan is expected to the start its range from around Rs 46 lakh (ex-showroom).
Speaking on this, Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India said, “The S90 is one of the most awaited launch from Volvo’s portfolio this year. It’s got everything you would expect a luxurious sedan to have- the look, the feel and the design without any compromise on the comfort! The S90 comes with a sub 2L diesel engine and we are confident that it will change the dynamics of the segment in India. We are opening the pre-bookings for our patrons who would like to be the early ones to own the S90.”
Built on the Volvo’s latest design language, the new S90 also shares various design cues with its crossover sibling, the XC90. It boasts of luxurious and spacious on the inside as it does on the outside. Under the hood, the S90 for India will be offered with Volvo’s 2.0-litre diesel engine in two tune-spec - D4 base version of the motor will produce 190hp and the more powerful D5 that is good to produce 235hp. There is a possibility that petrol and hybrid powertrains could also be introduced in India.
