One of the most highly anticipated products to debut in the Indian market this year, the all-new 2014 Honda Jazz has been officially rolled in the Malaysian market this week with prices starting at RM 73,000 or Rs 13.65 lakh approximately. The pre-bookings for the new Jazz had already started earlier this month in Malaysia, while the deliverers are expected to commence immediately.
In the Malaysian market where the diesel fuel is not widely used, the all-new Honda Jazz is being offered only with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that is rated at 120PS of max power and 145Nm of peak torque. The premium hatchback will be offered in a total of three variants - S, E and V. In the diesel-frenzied Indian market however, the Jazz will come with a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine as well, which currently serves the Amaze and the City. Both petrol and diesel engines come mated to either a 5-Speed manual gearbox or a 5-Speed automatic tranny.
The Honda Jazz that was introduced in the Indian market in 2009 failed to make any sort of dent, due to its higher sticker price as compared to the other hatchbacks in its segment and the unavailability of a diesel engine. With the all-new upcoming Jazz, Honda hopes to right the wrong and start afresh in the country, where its premium hatchback is concerned.
