Ford is preparing an all-new, next-generation model of its flagship, Figo hatchback that was recently previewed in India as the Ford Ka Concept at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. Now however, Ford of Brazil has revealed the first images of the production-ready Ford Ka hatchback that will be launched with the same name in the Brazilian market and will arrive in the Indian market as the 2015 Ford Figo. Ford Brazil is expected to commercially launch the Ka hatchback after the 2014 Football World Cup concludes.
The production-ready avatar of the Ford Ka hatchback features very mild design changes, when compared to the Ka Concept. Most of the design elements have been carried forward from concept version including the sleek headlights designed along the lines of Ford’s global design language and the Aston Martin-esque front grille. The production version however, does lose out on the chrome plated horizontal slats seen on the concept.
The expected range of engine options in the Ford Ka includes, a 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine, which is rated at 89PS and 204Nm and a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that is rated at 123PS and 170Nm. In the Brazilian market, the Ford Ka will go against rivals such as the Volkswagen Up! and the Nissan Micra.
Post its launch in Brazil, the Ford Ka will land on the Indian shores as the all-new Figo hatchback and will also spawn a sub-4 metre Figo sedan.
