Yup, this is big one, we were taken by surprise when we first saw these pictures. In what should be considered as the master stroke by Bajaj Auto, these spy shots coming in from Indonesia show a adventure sport model based on the Pulsar 200NS, and oh Boy! this looks stunning. We have been saying this since a long time now that the country needs a proper adventure sport in the price bracket of 1 lakh to 2 lakhs.
We had our doubts but the fit and finish of the bike featuring in the pictures does look like a thoroughly designed product with all the panels flowing flawlessly into each other. This is not the first time Bajaj managed to surprise us like this, the times when the Pulsar 220 Dts-Fi was in the news everywhere, Bajaj managed to slot in the brilliant Pulsar 200 without anyone even smelling that it existed.
The bike in the picture is christened as the Pulsar 200 AS (Adventure Sport), the bike was showcased in Indonesia, along with fully faired brothers, Pulsar 200SS and the Pulsar 400SS. Based on the Pulsar 200 NS, this Adventure Sport variant sports a taller windshield, projector setup for low beam, with a big front multi-focal headlight assembly, a half-fairing and although not very clear from the picture, it could come with a slightly longer travelling suspension unit up front.
With an upright, relaxed seating position and the tall screen, the Pulsar 200 AS will target the touring kinds, who are always on the hunt for an excuse to leave the city. Whether it will be fuel-injected or come with a carburettor could be anybody’s guess, but we expect the Pulsar AS 200 to be powered by the same 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine from the NS, which produces 23bhp of power and 18.3 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
