Snapshot: The Japanese helmet manufacturer has called it to be the most authentic replica helmet ever made
Arai - the world famous helmet manufacturer - has launched a limited edition Joey Dunlop replica helmets as a tribute to the legendary racer. According to a survey conducted in 2005, he was voted the 5th greatest motorcycling icon of all times. Arai is calling is to be the most authentic replica helmet ever made using the actual design and sponsors from 1985.
Joey Dunlop still holds the record for highest Isle Of Man TT wins. Racing between 1976 and 2000 (the year in which he died), he won the TT 26 times, a record no one has managed to come close to since then.
The replica is a celebration of Dunlop's success throughout his career which kickstarted after 1985, when he won three TT races and another three wins at Ulster GP and NW200. The helmet will have the Northern Irish radio station DownTown Radio logo on one side of the Yellow and Black helmet with 'JOEY' written at its back.
On this, Linda Dunlop, Joey's wife said, "I am happy that the new Arai has come about, it looks great and I know that Joey’s fans from around the world have been looking for another replica to be done by Arai. It keeps Joey’s memory alive."
If you wish to own one of these 300 pieces from Arai, you will have to spend just £ 699.99 which comes out to be a little over Rs. 71,000. Haah.
