ASEAN Cup 2014 - Race Spec Yamaha R25 is Stunning and Very Fast!!
Snapshot: Indonesia defends its title in 2014 at the ASEAN Cup 2014!!
Finding its roots back in the year 2003, the 11th chapter of the Yamaha ASEAN Cup Race 2014 was recently held on 7th December at the Sentul International Circuit, which is approx. 3.96 km long and is situated in West Java, Indonesia. The race event, which is hosted by Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing, this year saw Indonesia again defend their title again as the overall champion in the event, following last year’s victory.
The results of the participating countries overall points are as follows:
1. Indonesia- 188 points
2. Thailand- 162 points
3. Malaysia- 134 points
4. Philippines- 44 points
5. Japan- 16 points
6. India- 13 points.
For 2014, the YAMAHA ASEAN CUP RACE, an event that aims to promote the sporty image of the Yamaha brand throughout the ASEAN region, opened a new class that is ST250, using the Yamaha YZF-R25 quarter litre.
“Yes, this year there are three classes, one of which is for the Yamaha R25,” explained M Abidin GM Service & Motorsport PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM) found in circuit Sentul, Bogor. With no re-boring, the 250cc motor packs the same dimensions, while the pistons have been kept stock too. However, there’s a tweaked ECU and software upgrade developed by Daytona ECU that can open up the motor till a shrieking 13,500 rpm. The tweaked ECU and software package is sold freely and can be purchased by a racing team or privater. The custom radiator cooling system is designed and manufactured in Indonesia by the ADR Group.
Sudarmono, the fastest racer in training and recorded an exactly 1 minute, 45 second lap across the Sentul International Circuit. The ASEAN Cup Race also saw Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd running the top 4 performing riders from the final round of the National level R15 One Make Race Championship 2014 that was recently concluded at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai.
