British luxury sports carmaker, Aston Martin has introduced the new Rapide S in India. The car was revealed yesterday in Coimbatore. Priced at Rs 4.4 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai), this new version will replace the existing Rapide. This is the same vehicle unveiled by Aston Martin in January 2013 and is being sold in several European and American markets.
Speaking to ET, Sandeep Gupta, Assitant Sales Manger- Performance Cars (exclusive dealers for Aston Martin in Mumbai) confirmed that Rapide S will replace the Rapide globally. The price of the car has also been increased due to rise in customs duty. The duty has been increased to 175 percent from 110 per cent earlier. Another factor that further increased the price of the car has been frequently changing exchange rate of pounds.
The four-door Aston Martin Rapide S derives its power from a 6.0-litre V12 engine, which helps it churn out a maximum power output of 558bhp and 620Nm of peak torque. What impresses more is its acceleration capability, the car touches 0-100kmph mark in mere 4.9 seconds. The company is promoting this sports car in major cities to attract 10-15 buyers from there. The company has sold a total of 55 units in the country since its entry in 2011, and is now aiming to sell a minimum 20 cars in south India next year.
The new Rapide S now has an imposing and assertive new 'face', created by virtue of the impressive and striking new full grille. The revised front end design matched at the back by a striking new rear deck profile which includes a more prominent boot lid 'flip' add more to its sporty quotient.
