Ather S340 electric scooter is all set to be launched in India tomorrow. This is the first scooter from the Bangalore-based Ather Energy. This scooter is claimed to be capable of accelerating to 40 kmph from standstill position in 5.1 seconds and it has a top speed of 72 kmph. Considering the fact that Indian auto market is thriving towards zero emission pure electric mobility by the end of next decade, the Ather S340 could become an important model.
In terms of design, the Ather S340 comes with a dual-tone paint scheme. It looks sharp and stylish. The electric scooter gets LED lights at front and rear and there is a touchscreen instrument cluster that gets features like navigation, profile based sign in, predictive analytics and ride statistics. Ather Energy also says the scooter comes connected to the cloud-based system that will provide the necessary system updates.
Power source for the Ather S340 electric scooter is a 2.2 kW lithium-ion battery pack. This battery pack comes as IP67 water resistant and it provides a running range of 60 kilometre on a single charge. The battery gets fast charging technology that ensures 80% is charged in one hour. The battery pack is claimed to have a life of 50,000 kilometre.
For braking duty, the Ather S340 gets petal disc brakes at both front and rear end, while suspension duty is done by telescopic front forks and monoshock absorber at rear. Pricing of the scooter will be announced tomorrow. Expect it to get a pricing that will attract the buyers.
