Audi India would launch the A3 Cabriolet in the country tomorrow, i.e. December 11, 2014. The company has revealed two teaser images of the car on its official Facebook page which read, "Open up to a new driving experience" and " 1 day to go". Being unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, it would be sold in the country en-route CBU (Completely Built Unit) and its price would be higher than the standard A3 sedan.
The Audi A3 Cabriolet is basically the roof-top version of the regular sedan and comes loaded with an automatic fabric roof. The roof of this 4-seater convertible car would open and close automatically while driving at speeds upto 50kmph in just 18 seconds of time. The car would weigh lesser than its previous generation model due to the inclusion of aluminium in its development. Inside the cabin, it would have all the features and equipments of the regular A3 sedan. However, it would boast a pop up infotainment screen for the Audi MMI and the Bang and Olufsen sound system. The front passengers are further pampered by the inclusion of built in wind deflector and neck warmers.
Quite identical to the A3 sedan, the Cabriolet version would also be offered in both petrol and diesel guises. In several international arenas, it is being available with 1.4L TFSI and 1.8L TFSI petrol motors & 1.6L TDI and 2.0L TDI diesel engines. In India, it is expected to carry a 1.8 litre TFSI petrol and a 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine. The 1.8L TFSI petrol unit would belt out a maximum power of 177 bhp and peak torque of 280Nm, whereas the 2.0L TDI diesel powertrain would generate a top power of 181 bhp and highest torque of 380Nm. Both the engines would be mated to a 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission to maximize acceleration and performance.
