The new Audi R8 have won the Golden Steering Wheel 2015. The selection was made by readers of Auto Bild magazine and Bild am Sonntag newspaper together with an international panel of experts and was presented at the Axel Springer headquarters in Berlin. Audi celebrates the awarding ceremony in more elicit way, by displaying this Audi R8 V10 Plus wrapped in gold chrome at the Audi Forum in Neckarsulm, Germany.
During the award ceremony, Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, emphasized: “We are delighted to once again finish so successful in this highly respected prize competition. The Golden Steering Wheel awards we have won provide even more incentive for us in the next phase of our model initiative.”
The Audi Forum Neckarsulm is situated between Frankfurt and Stuttgart, the Neckarsulm facility displays company's range of collection, a customization studio, restaurant, a 4,000-square-foot shop, and a concert space. The company has also facilitated their customers by picking up their new wheels directly from the factory at the Neckarsulm location, where Audi operates its principal assembly plant for Audi R8.
Though, this R8 seems a bit similar to what its competitor Mercedes drove in Cannes a few years back, but with matt gold stripe up the centre, flanked by black pinstripes giving it some extra contrast. The R8 is emphasized with black glossy touch at the wheels, grilles, mirrors, air scoops, and rear wing and not with any chrome garnish.
In the sports car category, the new Audi R8 won over readers and jury members alike. The prize was accepted by Heinz Hollerweger, Managing Director of quattro GmbH: “The new Audi R8 is the most powerful and fastest series-production Audi of all time. It is the dynamic top of the line for Audi and is as close to a racing car as any of our cars.”
Just to add to your knowledge, the new R8 plus is packed with 5.2-litre V10 engine that produces over 600 HP and 560 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed S-tronic transmission channeled to all four wheels. It is also expected that Audi could showcase the next generation R8 at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo but we are unsure of when they will launch the car in the country.
