Audi has confirmed to debut a new market segment with its new mini SUV, Audi Q2 model in 2016. This crossover would be positioned below the Q3, as the most affordable Audi SUV and is likely to make its first public appearance at the Geneva Motor Show 2016. Audi will lay the foundations for future growth in 2016. In the coming financial year, the company plans to continue with its high levels of investment.
Along with further process and cost optimization, the planned capital expenditure is to amount to more than € 3 billion, and will support the Ingolstadt-based company along its successful path. Half of the planned investment will take place at the German sites in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm. Furthermore, Audi will recruit additional experts in the field of future technologies once again in 2016.
The company intends to push forward with its growth strategy with the approved investment program in 2016: “We are continuing with our high levels of investment in future technologies to enhance the strong position of our brand,” emphasized Audi CEO Rupert Stadler.
The model will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and will be powered by a set of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. It will be offered with both manual and DSG automatic transmissions, while higher variants will get quattro all-wheel drive system. Without any details, the company has also confirmed that the next gen Q5 will also be unveiled next year. With the latest design philosophy of the brand, this BMW X3 rival will be based on the MLB platform which also underpins the new Q7.
So, we are expecting the new Q5 to bring several new assistance systems and features on board including the optional Audi Virtual Cockpit.
