Audi, the German car manufacturer has been spotted taking cold weather test rounds in its redesigned model the “Audi Q5”. With its last launch in January 2013, the model started to show its age, and surprisingly, the brand is working on a redesigned model. The model will be based on the same platform that of A4, so we can expect the model to be significantly lighter than its current version.
Recently spied Audi Q5 will follow the footsteps of its big brother, i.e. the Q7, and adopts a prominent grille that is fringed by angular headlights and familiar looking air intakes. Going further back, you will see a door-mounted mirrors, bulging fender flares with a strong shoulder line. It has a sloping roof and a tailgate-mounted spoiler and LED taillights. At the rear-end, there also appears to be a stylish dual exhaust system that is neatly integrated into the rear bumper.
As we know, the Audi Q5 2017 will be based on the same platform that underpins the A4, the engine will carry over from the A4. We are expecting a familiar petrol and diesel units, including a 2.0 TFSI that produces 248 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. The model is also expected with a plug-in hybrid variant with a range of approximately 48 km.
The 2017 Audi Q5 is expected to be introduced next year and the production line set up will be at the company's José Chiapa plant in Mexico.
