Audi has launched its range-topping SUV, the Q8, at a price starting from Rs 1.33 crore onwards, ex-showroom. The Q8 follows the coupe-SUV body style.
The Audi Q8 sports aggressive styling, with the new-gen Audi hexagonal grille dominating things upfront. The LED lights are extremely detailed, with the tail lamps following the new trend of running right across the tailgate. There are other nice touches like frameless doors, which were once available only on sports cars and convertibles. It is being offered with a choice of 12 exterior colours.
Inside, the Q8 gets the ‘virtual cockpit’ all-digital instrument cluster. It also gets the dual touchscreen setup for the centre console first seen in the A6. The top screen functions like any normal touchscreen infotainment unit, while the one below controls the climate control.
The driveline consists of a single option, the 55 TFSI. This consists of a 3-litre V6 turbocharged petrol that generates 340 bhp and a very impressive 500 Nm. It has a 48V mild hybrid system, and it feeds power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Audi has said that the Q8 is basically a bespoke model, and will be limited to 200 units for the Indian market. The Q8 will compete with the likes of the Range Rover Sport, Porsche Cayenne Coupe, BMW X6, and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe.
