As if the regular RS duo wasn’t already powerful enough, Audi has now unleashed even stronger versions of the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback which use an evolution of the familiar twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine. It’s now capable of developing a massive 605 bhp and 700 Nm of torque while 750 Nm is available for a brief moment if the overboost function is turned on.
Thanks to the added muscle, both RS models can now run the 0-100 kmph journey in as little as 3.7 seconds, representing a significant 0.2 decrease. As far as the 0-200 kmph task is concerned, it now takes 12.1 seconds which is 1.4 seconds less than before, with both vehicles being electronically capped at a top speed of 250 kmph. However, there’s an optional dynamic package that will raise the limiter to 280 kmph or even 305 kmph for those who want to unlock the full potential of the car.
The punchy V8 engine sends its power to the quattro AWD system through a revised 8-speed tiptronic gearbox while to stop efficiently Audi has fitted ventilated disc brakes but at an additional cost the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback performance models can be equipped with carbon fiber ceramic discs. Some of the goodies on offer include an adaptive air suspension, unique 21-inch wheels with 285/30 tires for the RS6 and 275/30 tires for the RS7, along with a center differential (sport differential is optional) and a dynamic steering mode as well.
In terms of design, the cars now look slightly more aggressive thanks to the revised bumpers and bigger air intakes, along with a chunkier rear diffuser, a glossy honeycomb grille painted in black as well as some interior cabin revisions like the RS sport seats, revised instrument dials, Alcantara & leather upholstery, carbon trim and other minor changes.
Both the Audi RS6 Avant performance and the RS7 Sportback performance will go on sale next month and in Germany will cost €117,000 and €121,700, respectively.
