Audi India has announced that it would launch the performance-based RS6 Avant station wagon on June 4, 2015 in the country. It seems as if there is no stopping for the German luxury automaker in India as it has already launched three products in the country and intends to bring in seven more by year end. Being based on the 3rd generation A6 sedan, the Audi RS6 Avant would be sold in the country via CBU route.
Basically, the RS6 Avant is the high-performance version of the A6 saloon. The word 'Avant' stands for estate body style or station wagon styling of the body. The Audi RS6 Avant would flaunt daytime running LEDs with velvety headlamps. It would be the first Station Wagon/ Estate/ Touring/ Shooting Brake model to be launched in India by any of the 'Big Three' - Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi - German automakers. The special advantage of Wagon body style is the oodles of extra spaces that a buyer enjoys alongwith unparallel luxury and performance. The RS6 Avant would be sold in limited numbers in India; however, it's success may open up a whole new segment of luxury cars in the country, and Jaguar, BMW and Merc might also join the bandwagon later with their respective products.
Under the hood, Audi RS6 Avant would be powered by a 4.0L TFSI V8 petrol motor, which churns out a massive power of 552 bhp and peak torque of 700 Nm. Being linked to an 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission, it does a 0-100 kmph in 3.9 seconds. The power is disbursed uniformly to all the four wheels via Audi's Quattro All Wheel Drive system. The RS6 Avant has an electronically limited top speed of 304kmph. One can expect the pricing of RS6 Wagon in excess of Rs. 1 Crore (Ex. Showroom), if not more.
