Audi India has officially announced the launch of RS7 on January 6th, 2014. The vehicle had been globally unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. Configured with the V8 engine, Audi 'cylinder on demand engine efficiency technology, eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission with Quattro all-wheel drive and sport differential, the all new Audi RS7 is a performance edition of the A7 Sportback. Emerged as India’s leading luxury automaker in 2013, Audi is now all set to accomplish their new year sales targets with upcoming products including Audi RS7, A3 and facelifted version of their existing line-up.
The Sportback RS7 will be powered with a 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers an excellent power output of 553bhp @ 5700rpm and 71.38kgm of torque @ 1750rpm. This powertrain is same that does duty to Audi S6 and Bentley Continental GT, but is tuned for better power and torque output. It will be coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Audi claims that the RS7 can achieve 0-100kph just in 3.9 seconds with electrically limited top speed of 250kph. By opting the performance boosting packages, this limit can be stretched up-to 304kmph.
Audi RS7's power mill comes with an option of cylinder deactivation that automatically shuts off four cylinders and helps in delivering an impressive fuel economy. Wearing sporty curves, the RS7 redefines new styling language marking distinction to its portfolio. The Audi RS7 is likely to be priced around Rs.1.3 crore (ex-showroom). It will be an answer to the Mercedes E63 AMG and the BMW M5.
