Set to wear the SQ7 moniker, the high-powered diesel Q7 will utilize a 4.0-liter TDI V8 engine developing a massive 435 bhp while the torque figure remains a mystery at this point. However, it could be as much as 900 Nm taking into account the older 4.2-liter TDI V8 from the A8 full-size sedan develops a massive 850 Nm.
That’s the only official information we have right now about the Audi SQ7, but if we were to rely on recent reports it is believed the model will make use of an electrically-driven turbocharger which would make it the first product car to benefit from this technology which aims to eliminate turbo lag and reduce fuel consumption so you get the best of both worlds, performance and efficiency.
Speaking of performance, sources close to Ingolstadt are saying the SQ7 will need just five and a half seconds to run the 0-100 kmph sprint and it will keep on going until hitting a top speed of around 300 kmph which is very impressive since the car will weigh more than 2,000 kg.
It will look slightly different than its lesser counterparts as the SQ7 will come with modified front and rear bumpers, larger brakes, a quad exhaust system and quite possibly bespoke wheels and paint. Expect a minor array of tweaks to be implemented inside the cabin as a method to denote it’s a special specification.
Chances are Audi will host the world premiere of the SQ7 next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but an online reveal could occur in the weeks to come. It will obviously be the most expensive model of the range and should go on sale before the end of the year while details regarding availability in India are not available at the moment of writing.
