Audi had only launched the revised edition of the A4 in September 2016, which a downscaled 1.4-litre petrol turbo engine. However, the company had stated that it will be introducing the diesel variant soon. And now, finally, the company has plans to launch the much awaited diesel trim of the Audi A4 in February itself.
The new diesel variant of the Audi A4 is expected to be more powerful that the previous model. The newer variant is expected to produce up to 190 bhp of power and will be mated with a 7-speed S Tronic dual clutch automatic transmission. The top-end petrol variant of the A4, which is TFSI Premium Plus, comes with a 1.4-litre four cylinder engine which offers 150 bhp of power at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 250 Nm at 1,500 to 3,500 revolutions per minute.
The new Audi A4 diesel variant looks bigger and much more comfortable than the outgoing model adding a little more leg room for the rear passenger. It gets smarter technologies than before with a virtual cockpit, which adds to the joy of driving the car.
The German automaking giant has said that the delay in introducing the diesel variant was due to the diesel ban, which shook almost all the premium automakers as they thrive on diesel trims. Moreover, the company also need time to make the 2.0-litre diesel trim which would also be compliant with the BSIV norms.
