BMW India has launched the all-new 7-Series sedan at a starting price of Rs. 1.11 Crore (Ex. Showroom) at the 2016 Auto Expo. The sixth-generation 2016 BMW 7-Series was launched by company's brand ambassador Sachin Tendulkar. The all-new BMW 7 Series is locally produced at BMW Plant Chennai. It is available in India in diesel and petrol variants and can be ordered at BMW dealerships from today onwards. The all-new BMW 7 Series is available in two distinct design schemes – M Sport and Design Pure Excellence.

The all-new BMW 7 Series is available in two diesel variants – the BMW 730Ld Design Pure Excellence and the BMW 730Ld M Sport which are locally produced. The BMW 730Ld Design Pure Excellence is also available as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU) which offers customers the choice of having a diesel engine and individualizing it with optional equipment and customizations from BMW Individual. The all-new BMW 7 Series is also available in two petrol variants – the BMW 750Li Design Pure Excellence and the BMW 750Li M Sport. They are imported as CBU and can be individualized with optional equipment and customizations from BMW Individual.
As for features, the new 7-Series gets Gesture Control, Remote Control Parking, BMW Display Key, BMW Touch Command System, Wireless Charging and Sky Lounge as standard. The company's flagship sedan also flaunts laser headlamps. Under the hood, the diesel variants has the BMW's latest 3.0L, 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine which develops 265bhp of top power and 620Nm of peak torque between 2,000–2,500 rpm. The engine is linked to an 8-speed automatic sport transmission, which propels the sedan to do a 0-100kmph sprint in just 6.2 seconds while topping out at 250kmph. The petrol variants are powered by a 4.4L, 8-cylinder engine which produces 450bhp of top power and 650Nm of highest torque at 1,800–4,500 rpm. The same 8-speed automatic sport gearbox is on offer, while the sedan touches the 100kmph mark from standstill in just 4.7 seconds. The top speed is similar to that of diesel variants.
