GM India unveiled its cross hatchback product on slot at the Auto Expo 2016. The Beat Activ finally made its world premiere at the Auto Expo 2016. It has been given a more rugged “cross” look by adding roof rails, skid plate on the front bumper and black cladding on the lower part of the car. Chevrolet Beat Activ also sports LED headlamps, DRLs, OVRMs with integrated turn indicators and foglamps.
During the unveil, Mr Kaher Kazem, President and Managing Director, GM India emphasized, “The Essentia and Beat Activ were created in direct response to the growing Indian market and signal Chevrolet’s commitment to the maturing Indian A-segment market. Both evolutions of the proven Beat platform, these two important vehicles give us the opportunity to speak to a wider audience. They clearly demonstrate we are listening to our customers and are being led by their need for small cars with more content and more choice. We are confident it is cars like these that will increase our presence on Indian roads.”

The Beat Activ is a fun and spirited concept that has been designed to stand out from the crowd. As a soft-roader, the Beat Activ is ready for any adventure or challenge. With expressive design language and significant attention to detail, this youthful car is a response to India’s maturing market and aspirational lifestyle. With a tough and aggressive stance, adventure is at its core, while its interior ensures the driver remains comfortable and connected.
Under the hood, the Beat Activ would come loaded with the same set of petrol and diesel engines as the ongoing Beat hatch. The diesel variants would be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine, while the petrol variants would get a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine. the Beat Activ would be manufactured locally, while it enters production by early 2017.
It is based on the popular and proven Beat platform, the Beat Activ was specifically designed, to suit the tastes and needs of the discerning Indian consumer while also ensuring strong global appeal, at the GM Korea Design Studio. Chevrolet Beat Activ would lock horns with Toyota Etios Cross, Hyundai i20 Active and Fiat Avventura, and Volkswagen Polo. It is expected to be priced in a range of Rs. 5-8 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
