Bajaj Motorcycles has announced a global association with Triumph motorcycles. Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto Ltd. and Nick Bloor, CEO, Triumph Motorcycles Ltd. signed the non-equity partnership. The primary objective of this collaboration is to develop a range of mid-capacity motorcycles while benefitting from the collective strengths of both the companies. Further details on this partnership would be announced at a later stage.
"We hope to bring to bear upon global markets the individual strengths of the partners including brand position and perception, design and development technology, quality and cost competitiveness and worldwide distribution," said both the companies in a joint statement. The global partnership would enable Triumph to significantly expand its global reach by entering new higher volume market segments, especially within the emerging markets across the world. On the other hand, Bajaj will gain access to the iconic Triumph brand, and its great motorcycles, enabling it to offer a wider range of motorcycles within its domestic market and other international markets.
"Triumph and Bajaj are excited by the opportunities of this partnership and prospect of entering new market segments, thereby reaching a whole new group of motorcyclists across the world," concluded the official joint statement. It is also being learnt that Bajaj is positive on introduction of Husqvarna brand in the Indian market. The Swedish brand, in all likelihood, would be positioned above the KTM brand with Bajaj pretty optimistic of decent acceptance and sales numbers. Meanwhile, Bajaj is also ready to launch a new motorcycle under the V range in the coming couple of months near the festive season.
