Bajaj Auto silently launch India's CT100B!

Snapshot: Is this going to be the cheapest bike in India when launched?

There has been an uprising (yup we are quoting Star Wars here ;) ) in the fate of Bajaj Auto's two wheeler market in India that saw the Pune based motorcycle maker loose big chunks of it market share to its competitors in last couple or so years. However, with the arrival of the Platina and the CT100 with the grand success of the new Pulsar's (RS200 and AS200/AS150) combined with staggering market capture by updated Avenger range, Bajaj is back in business and how.

Now our friends at BikesIndia have got their hands on spy shots of what seems to be a base model below the CT100 and as it is clear from the Images, Baja has named it CT100B. The spy shots have been taken at a Bajaj Dealership thus meaning that the bike will be its launch soon enough. Based on the CT100 which was re-launched last year the CT100B features a more traditional (or retro now) round headlamp unit as against the CT100's Platina inspired bikini fairing. The CT100B carries the same set of graphics as those available on the CT100, while stuff like circular rear view mirrors, new seat structure that covers the area of a tail piece, a luggage carrier that is integrated into the pillion grab rail, and a triangular tail lamp can also be seen in the spied images.

Expected to be the most affordable Bajaj Auto motorcycle in the market, the CT100B might also turn out to be Indi's cheapest motorcycle for the very fact that the base CT100 with spoke wheels retail at INR 35,034 while its alloy wheel version retails at INR 38,034 Ex-Showroom Delhi. Now since there is no self start even as an option on the CT100 brand from Bajaj Auto, expect the CT100B to also make do without it. With basic spoke wheels and an absence of a bikini fairing alongwith other titbits, it would be no harm if we expect a price tag of around INR 32,000-33,000 Ex-Showroom which would make it an absolute dirt cheap (yet a robust) motorcycle to buy in the country.

Expect the CT100B to likely arrive with the same power plant from the CT100 which is a single cylinder air-cooled engine that produces a power output of 8.2Ps@7500rpm and 8.05Nm@4500rpm of peak torque output., while the transmission is taken care by a 4 speed gearbox. Expect more news on the same in coming days.
