Following the launch of Suzuki Intruder 150, Bajaj is all set to unveil the upgraded variant of its very popular Avenger series. The test unit of the 2018 Avenger Street 220 Cruise was spotted recently on the streets of India with heavy camouflage. A closer look reveals a lot about the new cruiser, which is expected to be launched later in this month.
The updated Avenger 220 Cruise looks more stylish with a digital instrument cluster, new grab rails and a revised sitting arrangement. Viewing the spied images very closely, a fuel tap can be seen placed just below the tank. This clearly indicates that the facelifted version will come with the carburettor system. At the front, the headlamp might feature an LED DRL, while the tail lamp appears to be a bit different from the ongoing model.
As the test mule was heavily camouflaged, much of its exterior was not seen. In terms of the power plant, it is expected that the upgraded version will continue with the same engine as that of the ongoing model. Currently, the Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 is equipped with a 220 cc air-cooled, single cylinder engine, which is capable of producing a maximum power of 19 PS and churns out a peak torque of 17.5 Nm.
As of now, the company has three bikes in the Avenger series - Bajaj Avenger Street 150, Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220. All the three motorcycles were launched in 2015 in a bid to revamp the first Bajaj Avenger that was launched in the year 2005. The move has worked wonders for the company as the sales have gone up ten times from 2,500-3000 units a month to around 25,000 - 30,000 units a month.
The Street models feature a black matte body with black alloys and are suited for driving in the city, whereas, the Cruise 220 model that looks more like a cruiser bike with lots of chrome, looks more suitable for long rides.
