- Bajaj Chetak Electric to come with a three-year/50,000km warranty.
Bajaj Auto had announced last month that Chetak scooter will start its second innings in the Indian market, albeit in an all-electric avatar. The company has now revealed the warranty and service details of the new scooter while the bookings are expected to start from January 2020.
Yesterday, the Chetak Electric Yatra was concluded in Pune which started from Delhi last month during the unveiling of the scooter.
Though the exact battery specifications are not revealed it has been learned that Bajaj engineers have developed it to last at least 70,000 km. In addition, the Bajaj Chetak Electric will also boast of a three-year/50,000km warranty.
As for the maintenance, the electric scooter will have a service interval of 15,000 km. The petrol-powered vehicles have a short service interval as compared to the Bajaj Chetak Electric. And, the reason being, electric scooters comprise of very less moving components in the drivetrain and hence, wear and tear of brake pads is less as well.
Although details about the Bajaj Chetak are scarce it is learned that the price will be announced in January 2020 when the bookings start. It was further reported that KTM and Husqvarna are collaborating with Bajaj to develop a performance-oriented electric scooter.
In addition, the Chetak could also be used as the base platform for the new high-performance scooter. The Bajaj Chetak Electric pricing could be around Rs 1.15 lakhs (Ex. Showroom) while it could be launched in a phase-wise manner in the Indian market.
