Bajaj India has discontinued the Discover 125 ST in our market. When the company launched the Discover 125 M, we were doubting its co-existence and this has been confirmed by the company officially today. Launched in 2012, the 125 ST was the most feature-loaded motorcycle from the Discover range. However, the model was overpriced for its segment that led to low sales as competitors like Honda CB Shine and even Bajaj’s own 125T manage to lure prospective buyers due to their better value-for-money proposition.

The Discover 125 ST was the only motorcycle in the commuter segment that came with a mono-shock suspension at rear. The motorcycle was powered by a single-cylinder 125cc unit that produced 13 PS and 10.7 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed transmission. The suspension was conventional telescopic shock setup at front while stopping power came from a 200mm disc at front and 130mm drum at rear.

The new 125M introduced by Bajaj used a similar powertrain, but is detuned with slightly lower power, to make it more fuel-efficient especially for urban riding. The company has priced the 125M at Rs. 50,499 which is approximately Rs. 5000 cheaper than the 125 ST (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi). The Bajaj Discover in its 125cc avatar is now available only in two variants- T and M.
