After a series of speculations, Bajaj has finally decided to launch its much awaited premium motorcycle Kratos 400, by the end of 2016. Being a premium sports bike, the Kratos 400 will be priced at around 1.6 lakhs to 1.88 lakhs. Though the styling of this bike has been inclined toward a sports motorcycle, it is aimed to compete with popular cruisers, with the main rivalling being hinted at the Royal Enfield and the likes.
The Kratos 400 was first revealed in the Auto Expo 2014 as a concept bike, an upgraded version of the Pulsar. Moreover, until before the confirmed news by Bajaj Auto, there were rumours and speculations that this motorcycle would be named as Pulsar 400VS, where VS would be tagged as Vantage Sports. However, with the most recent confirmation, the automaker dissipated such rumours.
This upcoming Bajaj motorcycle will be the company’s flagship model in Indian market. At the heart, this flagship motorcycle will feature a 373.2cc single cylinder engine, very much similar to that of of the KTM Duke 390. However, it's the company’s trademark triple spark technology that makes it different from the Duke. This engine is expected to generate 35bhp of power, that will be transmitted to the rear wheel through a six speed gearbox.
Bajaj Kratos 400 closely resembles the concept design that was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. Only minor difference could be noticed in the form of telescopic front fork, instead of USDs. Moreover, the dual channel ABS technology is expected to be an optional feature.
Apart from this new release, Bajaj will be upgrading its present model, like Pulsar 150, 180 and 220, by fitting in the BS4 compliant engines. All these motorcycles have already started reaching the dealers and will be up for pre-booking soon.
