Bajaj Pulsar 180 Discontinued in India

India’s leading bike maker, Bajaj Auto has phased out Pulsar 180 in the country, media reports suggests. An official statement from Bajaj is yet awaited. The semi-faired Bajaj Pulsar 180F, which is built on the same platform as standard Pulsar 180, has replaced the latter. Interestingly, the semi-fairing on the Pulsar 180F is borrowed from Pulsar 220F. Sources in the know reveal, dealerships in prominent Tier I cities have confirmed to the bike’s phase out. 

Coming to its replacement, Bajaj 180F, the semi-faired bike was launched in India this January. A part of Bajaj’s popular Pulsar range, the 180F is priced at Rs 86,490 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Other models, such as Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180 account for a major chunk of sales in the Pulsar range. The Pulsar 220F is yet another popular bike that has set the cash registers ringing ever since its launch. 

The 180F shares a host of elements with the 220F including instrument console, fuel tank, tyres, etc. Though, both vary in mechanical terms with Bajaj Pulsar 180F deriving power from the 178 cc air-cooled, carburetted unit, that makes 17 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 14 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm. It comes paired to a five-speed manual unit. Suspension set up on the bike comprises telescopic forks at front and dual Nitrox shock absorbers at the rear.

Stopping power on the Pulsar 180F comes from 260 mm disc unit at front and 230 mm unit at the rear, though it misses out on the ABS system. An updated version of the bike is in the making which could receive slight price hike courtesy addition of new features. In terms of competition, the Bajaj Pulsar 180 F rivals the likes of TVS Apache RTR 180, Honda CB Hornet 160R and Suzuki Gixxer SF among others.
