Pune based motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj auto has started producing its all new 400cc motorcycle, which is likely to hit the Indian market next month. However, Bajaj auto hasn’t revealed the name of the bike, but it is expected to be named as Dominar. Earlier the company planned to name the bike as Kratos, but due to some problems related copyright. The first batch of the Dominar was rolled out today by an all women assembly crew.
As per sources, the Indian manufacturer will use the Dominar branding to sale more premium and powerful motorcycles, just like the company sells motorcycles under Pulsar, Discover, Avenger and V branding. But till date Bajaj has not disclosed that how many motorcycles will be sold under the Dominar branding.
The upcoming motorcycle will be powered by a 373cc single cylinder engine, which already powers the KTM Duke 390. However, Bajaj will tune the motorcycle differently in order to make it a great tourer. The engine is likely to get Bajaj’s signature triple spark technology and 6-speed gearbox.
The Dominar was showcased by Bajaj auto back in 2014 Auto expo, and many design bits from the concept including the split instrument cluster with a digital readout on the fuel tank will be carried forward in the production variant as well. However, the production variant won’t have the upside down forks as shown in the concept, while the rear will get a mono suspension setup. Stopping power will come from both the front and rear disc brakes. As per reports, Bajaj is likely to equip the motorcycle with single channel ABS, while it might make the dual channel ABS an optional feature.
According to, Bajaj Auto President (Motorcycle Business) Eric Vas , the company is proud to announce this historic roll out at Chakan with its all women assembly line. And further the company expects to set a new benchmark with the launch of this motorcycle.
