Rajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, has said that the company is aspiring to bring a big wave in the field of two wheelers and plans to replicate in two-wheeler what Tesla Inc did in four wheelers. This timeline seems to be a very daunting one as it’s not very long before the timeline ends in 2020. Going by the presently elaborated timeline of Bajaj Auto, the company will be introducing an electric motorcycle as well as the first Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle, both by 2020. As of now, it is yet difficult to ascertain whether the electric vehicle by the company would be a motorcycle or a scooter.
Bajaj Auto had first started its operation towards the last quarter of the twentieth century and had established its name in the auto industry as an automobile powerhouse. But towards the latter part of its existence, it slowly diverted itself as an exclusive two wheeler manufacturer, especially after the current MD took over. He has never been shy in indicating the company as a motorcycle manufacturer.
In the recent years, it is only KTM that has a fully electric motorcycle in its line up, in the form of the Freeride E. Hence, it is to be seen whether Bajaj boosts on expanding the KTM electric space further or tried to bring a new electric segment under its own branding.
