The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj auto is all set to launch its all new 125cc motorcycle based on its popular V-series motorcycle. The new motorcycle will be named as Bajaj V12 and is expected to be priced at Rs. 56,200 (ex-showroom Delhi). The launch news was confirmed by Mr. Eric Vas, President (Motorcycle Business) of Bajaj, during a special screening of 'Invincible Indians,' which is a series of five stories that shows ordinary Indians who have done extraordinary things to make the country proud.
Just like its sibling the V12 will also use metal sheets from the decommissioned INS Vikrant. According to Eric Vas, the production of the V12 has already been started, and the new bike will be launched by December 2016.
The upcoming V12 will come powered by a 125cc petrol motor, which is a toned down version of the 150cc engine of the older V15. The styling is likely to be more or less similar with the Bajaj V15 in order to keep the production cost as low as possible. However, like the V15, the V12 won’t get a seat cowl.
The 125cc engine is likely to churn out 11 PS of top power at 8,000 rpm and 10.8 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm, which makes the motorcycle quite powerful.
Bajaj has decided to launch the V12 after getting nice response from the V15. The company launched the V15 as the homage of the decommissioned aircraft carrier of Indian navy named as INS Vikrant. The V15 was launched back in March 2016 and found around 1.6 lakh takers. With these kind of success, the company is now looking to launch some more commuters under the V branding, and the first step towards it is the upcoming V12.
