The Bajaj V12 has created a lot of buzz since its announcement, more so because of the popularity of its predecessor, the V15 commuter bike and presence of the Indian warship, INS Vikranta’s metal in it . Now Bajaj Auto has silently made this new commuter model available for sale and the deliveries have commenced. The Bajaj V12 has already reached several Bajaj retail outlets across the country for the further proceedings.
The overwhelming popularity, that the Bajaj V15 gained, pushed the company to consider introducing a lower variant to add to its premium commuters motorcycle gallery. Several Bajaj dealerships has stated that the Bajaj V12 can be booked with an amount of Rs. 10,000 and there is no waiting period as of now. Majority of the dealerships in Delhi and Mumbai have already received this motorcycle and the other Bajaj dealerships in the country are expected to receive them shortly.
The design of the V12 is heavily based on its older variant with subtle changes here and there. The V12 gets 5-spoke alloy wheels instead of 5 twin-spoke alloy in the V15. The rear tyre is slimmer than before at 120/90 and the front tyre stands same at 90/90. The overall all kerb weight has also been decreased to 133-kg. However, the most noticeable change could be the absence of disc brakes. Other than these, the overall design, removable rear cowl, saree guard and matte exhaust pipe are the same as the higher sibling.
Up at the heart, the Bajaj V12 has a downsized engine of the V15 in the form of a single cylinder, 125cc ,long stroke engine which can produce 10.7bhp of power and a peak torque of 11Nm. This engine is coupled with a 5-speed gearbox. On Indian roads, it will be up against the like of Honda CB Shine SP, Hero Glamour, etc.
The Bajaj V12 gets an exclusive showroom price tag of Rs. 56,200 in Delhi and is presently available in two colour options only i.e. Ebony Black and Wine Red.
